About Us

Furever Tails Animal Rescue is a foster home based animal rescue. Our rescued animals consist of owner surrenders, pets that came from high kill shelters and those that were found as a stray and never reclaimed. Furever Tails Animal Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, organization that is certified under the MI Pet Fund Alliance. We are also a Bissell Partner for Pets!

Meet our Founders

Jill

Jill has been prominent in the rescue community since 2012. She has taken part in rescuing hundreds of lives. She comes from a family that has a long history with animals, from horse races to zoos and farming. She has a career in Animal Control, and volunteers her free time in animal rescue. Her compassion and patience speak true for those who’s voices cannot be heard.

Sheri

Sheri was inadvertently coaxed into merely fostering a sweet senior dog, at least that was just the plan initially in 2013… years later she has taken part in rescuing over 200 lives and couldn’t feel more accomplished with her volunteer rescue efforts.

Our Animals

All of our rescue animals are examined by our veterinarian, treated for any illnesses, microchipped and given age appropriate vaccines prior to being adopted. All animals are spayed or neutered before being adopted. Our goal is to help reduce the pet population and the need for euthanasia due to overcrowding in shelters.

Our rescue animals are fostered in homes and treated like family. We encourage a cage free environment as much as possible. We have the ability to experience their personalities in our standard home environments. Often it is difficult for our fosters to adopt out their foster animals as we grow to love and care for them, however the reward is the happiness in the new furever family and the ability to then rescue another animal in need!

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
